Updating and Making a set of educational posters help teams better
With the release of a new mandated component, how do we update the component while improving upon the usability of an educational resource that informs robotics teams and students on how components in the FRC control system is wired?

Updated for the New 2025 Radios
The main driver for this new diagram is the introduction of the new radios for the FRC 2025 season.
New Design System, More Usable
This new diagram package comes with a new and unified design system across its 3 diagrams, and a lot of usability updates that increase its ability to help FRC teams new or veteran.
Areas of Improvement
Using the 2nd generation diagram as reference, several areas of improvement were identified, these issues were by no means big, but when improvements are added up it is projected to have a big impact to its usability.
Diagram Legends
Routing types such as power, signals such as PWM and CAN loops are represented. Each routing is also sorted by line weight into its typical and minimum wire gauges.
Direct and minimal overlap routing
Trace routing is optimized and iterated over the multiple generations of this diagram to have as little wire overlap as much as possible, reducing visual clutter and improving usability.
Tooltip Information
Little tidbits of information alongside components and specific wire trace paths give users nuances that might occur in those connections, allowing them to proactively prevent problems down the line when they wire their robots.
Granular Labelling
Component labelling now comes with additional information such as specific components used or parameters that need to be taken into account regarding that component.
Standardized Margins and Container spacing
All margins and containers are 0.5 inches*
* Label area uses 0.375″ content margins
4 Diagram Types
What was previously 2 diagrams under 2 different design systems is now unified into one, a pneumatics diagram, and a beginners diagram.
