2019 halton fll tournament
Duration: September 2019 - December 2019
Project Scope: Conceptual Design, Prototyping, Manufacturing
The FIRST Lego League Tournament in Oakville, Ontario is an annual event running since 2010, hosting tens of FLL teams from across the Greater Toronto Area. This event serves as one of the qualifiers that the teams have to compete in before being able to compete in higher level competitions.
I was tasked to design the event's award trophies for the 2019 event, with a goal to design a unique and memorable awards trophy that embodies the current year's game into the design.
Initial Concepts were sketched up, then after approval was received, the designs for both the championship and award trophies were designed using a Computer Aided Design Program, a 3d printed model was made to verify the trophy design and an iterative process was started to figure out the precise tolerances needed after the acrylic
sheet thicknesses were measured, as well as experimentation on they types of wood and coating used for the championship trophies.

It was decided that the final award trophy design would use white and black acrylic sheeting, while the championship trophies would use sandwiched Baltic birch as a base, and an acrylic truss structure, title plate and payload, both types have a felt lining on the bottom as backing.
